A native of Presque Isle, Maine, Elwood was born to the late Wallace Roix and Cassie Adams Roix on September 10, 1926. After high school, Elwood served his country in the United States Navy.
Elwood was a great man – he was whitty, talented, independent and strong. He worked as a contractor and continued to build various projects for others well after retirement. Even after losing his mobility, Elwood still continued to work with wood and created an intricate little village with animals, roof tiles and even stained glass windows. He enjoyed making others happy and gifted acts of love to others.
In addition to his parents, Elwood is preceded by his wife, Louisa "Ann" Bentley Roix; grandson, Joey Roix; brother, Linwood Roix; sister in law, Ester Shaw Roix; and brother in laws, Francis Burnette and Peter McKay.
His memory will be cherished by his children, Gary (Bonnie) Roix of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Rev. William “Bill” (Mary) Roix of Greenbush, Maine, Janice “Jan” (Dennis) Levinge of Canton, Georgia, Steven (Sheryl) Roix of Sugarhill, Georgia, Rev. Lawrence (Betty Jo) Roix of Livermoore Falls, Maine & Deborah (Dana) Dickinson of Ft. Fairfield, Maine; sisters, Barbara Roix Burnette, Opal Roix (Roger) Marquis & Patty Roix McKay; grandchildren, Scott Roix, Vicky Roix Townsend, Jason Churchill, Jennifer Churchill Bailey, Shelly Roix, Jerdon Bennett, Nathaniel Roix, Heidi Roix Sage, Jonathan Roix, Douglas Juckes & Kristy Larley Cairns; 25 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date.
