Denise Simone Farrell, 78, took her last breath on August 31st, 2023. She peacefully passed away of natural causes surrounded by the love of her family. Denise was born on March 15th, 1945 to Simone and Aram Renaud, along with James Kent her step-father.
Denise, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother is survived by her most loving husband Douglas Farrell; daughters, Micheline Soucy and her husband Douglas Soucy, and Nicole Pepin; granddaughters, Ashley Adams, Tayla Pepin, Sheneka Soucy, and Alexis Pepin; her great-grandchildren, extended family, and the foster children she cared for.
Before making a big move to Woodstock, GA to be with her daughters and granddaughters, Denise was a proud Rhode Island native. She fit the New Englander stereotype, including her very thick accent. During her years in Rhode Island, she decided to drop the corporate setting to work in foster care to take care of alcohol/drug-addicted newborns. She loved those kids with all of her heart and still loved them after their adoptions.
Denise, known as Mémère (“mem-may”), loved very hard when it came to her daughters and granddaughters, and of course her husband. Even though she did not like holidays as much as the other person, she always made sure her house was overly decorated to bring any holiday spirit to their hearts. Every year there would be an arts and crafts station on her kitchen or dining room table and everyone would come together and create the best holiday decor and the best memories, and this all started because of her.
Denise was a tough cookie with an enormous heart. The influence she shared with her daughters carried on to their daughters. Like blasting great music throughout the house, watching classic movies, celebrating the big and little things, and being there for one another no matter what. Her passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, provide, support, and love will be forever engrained in all she knew.
A visitation will take place at 11:00 a.m. on September 5th, 2023 at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. All loved ones of Denise and her family are welcome to come by to pay their respects. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Flowers donations will be taken from Brenda’s House of Flowers, 200 Chambers St, Woodstock, GA 30188.
