Barbara has been reunited with her parents, husband, brother and twin daughters. She is survived by her sons: Wayne Welch, wife Oma, Carl Welch, wife Crystal, Stephen Welch, wife Erica, Michael Lovejoy, wife Shanique; grandchildren: CJ Welch, Bettie Rankins, Taylor Johnson, Stephen L. Welch, Kaleb Welch, Gabriella Welch; and several nieces and nephews (granddog, Lovey Welch).
Barbara dutifully helped serve her country as a military wife and child. She was the director of the Red Cross, had worked with the USO, Wounded Warriors Project, and helped in Vietnam as a nurse. She was one of the first female paramedics in the state of Georgia and was named Georgia Woman of the Year in 1979. She continued to support the orphanage her parents founded in Germany.
She loved being with her family and friends. She was married to her beloved husband, Bud Welch, for 55 years. She received her Doctorate from Stanford University and her Bachelors Degree from University of Las Vegas. She loved to read and her favorite flowers were carnations.
