Alan “Al” Mumaugh of Woodstock passed away on August 29, 2021 as a result of Covid at age 70. He was born in Pekin, Illinois to George Mumaugh and Willadean Christopher. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sheron Griffin Mumaugh, daughter Michelle Voegele (Pete) of Galesburg, Illinois, and three grandchildren: Logan, Colton, and Paisley. He is also survived by his brother Terry Mumaugh (Chris) and mother Willadean Cosby of Mesa, Arizona.
While in his twenties Al took up the hobby of sports car racing through the Sports Car Club of America in the Trans Am series. He loved it and continued to race until his mid-thirties. In 1981 he moved south to Georgia in search of warmer weather and better job opportunities and settled in the Acworth area. He worked for Anvic as an engineering manager until the company closed in 1997. He then opened his own auto air conditioning and auto body shop named Kool Kars in Woodstock. After selling the business he worked several other jobs. He was a man of many talents and abilities, and retired from the AJC in 2019 where he worked as an electrician. After retirement he became an avid Day Trader in the stock market, and loved to teach others how to invest.
Al was a very hard worker and gave 100 per cent of himself at everything he did. He was a Christian and a genuinely nice man. He loved his family and was a loving husband and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by many. A Celebration of Life Service will be held December 5, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel followed by a reception at the funeral home.
