Maria Esther Arboleda Montaquiza was born on May 18, 1939, in Quito, Ecuador, and passed away peacefully on September 11, 2020 in New York. Marujita as she was so lovingly known by her family and friends, was predeceased by her husband, Marcelo in November 2000; and is survived by her four children: Marcelo, Ramiro, Sharon, and James, daughter-in-law Maria, and her only beloved grandson Michael Gleason. She is also survived by her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews in Ecuador.
Marujita immigrated to the United States in September 1964, and was a long-time resident of Whitestone, NY. She came to this country to give her family better opportunities, better education and the chance to live the American dream and that is what she did until her passing.
Marujita had a caring and loving heart and was always helping anyone in need. She was loyal and well loved by her extended family, friends and neighbors. She loved gardening, taking care of her cats, dancing, and enjoyed her weekend outings at the Casinos. Most of all she loved her family. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and of those whose life she touched.
She goes in peace knowing that she was loved by so many. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
In memory of my Mother
You were a precious gift from God above,
so much beauty, grace and love.
You touched our hearts in so many ways,
your smile so bright even on the bad days.
You heard God's whisper calling you home,
you didn't want to go and leave us alone.
You loved us so much, you held on tight,
till all the strength was gone and you could no longer fight.
He had called your name twice before,
you knew you couldn't make him wait anymore.
So, you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,
knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.
