John V. Ledwith, Sr. (aka Jack) 90, of Woodside, NY, died Sunday, May 3, 2015. Jack is survived by his wife, Veronica (Lawlor) of 65 years; sons Jack Jr., Gerard and Kevin; daughters Veronica and Marijean; granddaughters Anna, Erin and Jade and sister, Ann. Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a friend to all. He was a true gentleman and an inspiration to all who had the good fortune to know him.
Jack started life in NYC on March 9, 1925, the second youngest of nine children born to James and Anna Ledwith. He moved to Woodside in 1957.
Jack was a true patriot. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class V6 in the South Pacific on USS LCI (L) 498 and USS LCI (G) 727.
He was a member of UFCW Union for 65 years and IUOE Local 94 for 34 years.
He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus #3701, Woodside, NY and the Catholic War Veterans Post 0870, Woodside, NY.
Visitation at Kennedy-Roth Funeral Home 41-45 58th St., Woodside, NY on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 3pm – 5pm and 7pm – 9pm. Funeral Mass at St. Sebastian’s Church on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:30am.
