She was the middle of seven children. Charlotte graduated Harding High School in 1947, where she was a cheerleader and part of the first cheer squad for the Harding High hockey team.
Charlotte first met the love of her life, Bob Coleman, at a beach party at Tanners Lake. Charlotte and Bob Coleman were married at Central Park Methodist Church, St Paul, MN on May 7, 1948. They celebrated 70 years together shortly before Bob passed away on May 24, 2018. Most of those 70 years were spent living in the house on Fremont Ave that Bob built along with help from family and friends.
Charlotte was a skilled seamstress and sewed most of her own, as well as her children’s clothes, for many years. In the early 70’s, she discovered the art of quilting. For more than 30 years, she made beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, and numerous baby quilts for friends’ and relatives’ newborns. Charlotte enjoyed working in her flower garden and feeding and watching the many birds that flew into her yard. Winters were for putting together puzzles that took over the dining room table for months. Charlotte and Bob enjoyed playing cards, and for over 60 years, had a standing date on New Year’s Eve with special friends, Evie and Connie Freerks, to play 500. Family was everything to Charlotte. As far as Charlotte was concerned, there was nothing that brought her greater joy than family gatherings and celebrations, especially when it included her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charlotte was an active member of The Grove United Methodist Church for 60 years. She taught Sunday School and confirmation. She was a member of Women of the UMC, and rarely missed attending Wednesday Bible Study.
Charlotte peacefully passed away at Woodbury Care Center, Woodbury, MN on November 23, 2022 where she had been a resident since December of 2020.
Charlotte is survived by her children Maureen (Jim) Weidemann, Belview, MN, John Coleman, Maplewood, MN, Janet (Bobby Morris) Coleman, Morehead City, NC, and Cubby (Becky Seyfert Smith) Coleman, Bloomington, MN.
