Tom Prima was born on January 3rd, 1923 in Rosthern, Sask. and passed away peacefully at the Wolseley Memorial Integrated Care Centre (Lakeside Nursing Home) on Sunday March 23rd, 2014 at the age of 91. Tom was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1992 and two daughters, Staphie in infancy in 1955 and Irene in 2013. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Dorothy (George) Postoluk, Gladys (Joe) Gandzalas, and his sons Tom (Cathy) Prima, Robert Prima, and Raymond (Kathleen) Prima; son-in-law Gerald Hoggarth; his grandchildren Troy Postoluk, Tracy Postoluk (Jay Huff), Tom (Blaire) Prima, Frank (Cari) Prima, Rick (Aneta) Gandzalas, Ivan (Teri) Gandzalas, Bryce (Amanda) Prima, Nevin Prima, Stephanie Prima (Dean Taylor), and Anthony Prima (Bailee Yaginiski); his great-grandchildren Raquel, Jadyn and Matthew Gandzalas, Austin Prima, Mason and Katelyn Prima, Brooke Gandzalas and Caleb Prima; his brother Mike Prima, sister-in-law Mary Hryhorchuk, and many nieces and nephews. Tom married Mary Hryhorchuk on June 4, 1944 and in 1947 they moved to Grenfell. He worked and managed several farms in the Grenfell area for various businessmen. He also drove a semi hauling cattle and hay bales and assembled farm machinery. For many winters Tom cleared the rural roads in the Grenfell district. In 1987 he retired from Wolfe’s garage and went to help his son Robert with his plumbing and hardware business. Dad (Gigi) was a quiet man who enjoyed visiting with family, gardening, bird watching, listening to Ukrainian music and watching movies. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated in the St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Grenfell on Saturday March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. by Father Andrei Kachur. Interment in the Grenfell Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Wolseley Memorial Integrated Care Center for the impeccable care and love that they showed Dad while he was a resident. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Wolseley Memorial Integrated Care Center, Trust B, Box 10, Wolseley, Sask., S0G 5H0 in Tom’s memory.
