He was predeceased by his parents George Sangwais and Bernadette Lavallee; brothers: Clarence, Clayton, Calvin and Todd; sisters: Fran, Vanessa and Corinne; uncle Gabe Lavallee; special niece Alana Lavallee and cousin Angie Ponace.
He was survived by his companion Janet; sons: Evan, Aaron (Tamara) and Joshua; daughter Randi; grandchildren: Adesina, Gina, Nova, Naori, Ronin, Carter and Emma-leigh; brothers: Conrad (Rhonda), Carl, Andrew, Colin, Curtis (Tracy) and Rick (Alley); sister Laryssa Lavallee; auntie Biola Meadows and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins too large to mention.
A wake for Michael was held in Zagime Community Complex, Zagime Anishinabek Nation on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service was held in Zagime Community Complex on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Terry Flamont officiating. Interment followed on Shesheep of The Zagime First Nation at the George Sangwais Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Evan Wesaquate, Josh Wesaquate, Aaron Wesaquate, Albert Pinacie Jr., Collin Sangwais and Curtis Sangwais.
Honorary Pallbearers were Conrad Sangwais, Everette Rick Lavallee, Andrew Breitenbach, Hayden Sangwais, Cory Desnomie, Kevin Tanner, Geoff Sheldon, Carl George, Lance Pelletier and all who loved him.
The family of "Mike" would like to thank Zagime and Tubman Funeral Services and all who have supported us in these hard times. A special thank you to his son, Joshua for his unconditional love, care and attention throughout the last few months of his father's life.
