“Whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable – if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” - Philippians 4.8
One month shy of his 93rd birthday, Martin Kress was welcomed into the eternal banquet halls by his Saviour.
Martin was a man of integrity, with an inherent awareness of the depths of family, faith, fun, farming, community and dedication.
The beloved soul mate of his wife Elizabeth “Betty” for over 72 years, the proud father of 11 children, 45 grandchildren and over 90 great-grandchildren. These are his greatest legacy which will honour his name and memory.
A man of prayer, an active member of St. Ignatius Parish in Kendal for his whole life and a proud fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus he served his faith community well.
Always a jokester, with a hardy laugh, a gripping handshake, ready to raise a glass and dance well into night he ensured the good times and fun lasted as long as they could.
A lifelong farmer and learner he valued the land and the hard work to produce a harvest that would feed not only his family but help feed the world.
He served the community of Kendal and the R.M. of Montmartre in roles of leadership for many years and encouraged his family and neighbours to also support their local communities.
Dedication is what flowed through the blood of Martin and how he lived his life until his last breath.
Martin was predeceased by his parents, in-laws and siblings, daughter Delphine, son-in-law John and grandsons Nicholas and Bradley.
He is survived and remembered by his loving wife Betty and their children
Doreen (Adelard); Paul (Therese); Linda (John); Lorraine (John); Lorette (Richard); Jerome (Debbie); Audrey (Keith); Cynthia (David); Lionel (Sandra); Jacalyn (Darwin) and Dave (Carolyn) and their families, along with one sister-in-law Magdalena.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family funeral mass will be celebrated.
For those who knew Martin and wish to honour his memory you are encouraged to say a prayer, raise a toast of your favorite red wine or sherry and enjoy some KFC.

“And the seeds that fell on the good ground, these are the ones who, when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear much fruit with patient endurance.” – Luke 8:15
