Lila (Adelia) Weichel passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the age of 91 years.
Lila was born November 20, 1932 in Climax, Saskatchewan to parents Sidney and Mariam Adelia.
Lila was raised on the farm with her five sisters: Jennie, Ruth, Ruby, Mable and Edna and one brother Alex.
As a child her fondest memories were working on the farm with her dad and especially with colts and calves and other farm animals.
Lila loved gardening which she learned from helping her mom. There was nothing Lila would not do on the farm. Lila loved the outdoors.
Lila left home in 1952 to take secretarial training. She worked in Swift Current and Saskatoon and then moved back to Regina in 1954.
Lila met Adam in Regina at a dance and married on October 11, 1958. They lived in Regina with their four children. In 1963 they moved to the family farm south of Montmartre and had three more children to complete their family. Lila loved all aspects of farm life especially her milk cows.
In 1994 Lila and Adam bought a house in Montmartre. Although Lila was retired, because she loved the farm so much, she continued to visit the farm daily up to the age of 80.
As time went on Lila's focus became her garden and her yard which she was so proud of and took such care of. Lila passed on her love of gardening not only to her children but also her grandchildren. In the winter months Lila enjoyed doing puzzles, sudoku, crosswords and watching curling on tv.
Lila was predeceased by her husband Adam of 42 years; her parents; brother Alex and sister Ruth.
Lila is survived by her children: Beverly (Ed), Garry (Jennifer), Debbi (Dan), Audrey (Bryan), Rick (Colleen), Darlene and Ken; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
As per Lila's wishes a private service was held with the family. All were welcome to watch the funeral mass online which was livestreamed on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. through the link that is posted below.
