Those who knew Cal understood the things that he enjoyed in life. Fishing both fresh water and ice fishing, especially in northern Saskatchewan were a favorite time for him. He was a member of the Wildlife Federation in Grenfell and enjoyed goose and deer hunting. In his younger years was an avid fan of car racing and ski-doo racing as well.
Cal had a love of the land and a lifelong interest in farming. He was born and grew up in the Kingsley RM between Windthorst and Grenfell.
As a young man he entered the workforce. He entered it a little earlier than he should have as he was still a teenager when he started on with Sask Energy as a service technician. He was proud of the 36 year career that he had with the company.
In retirement, Cal enjoyed a quiet life and was a regular “happy hour” visitor at the Granite Hotel. He is missed and lovingly remembered by those lucky enough to have known him.
The funeral service for Cal will be held in the Tubman Funeral Home Chapel in Wolseley on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. The pallbearers will be Gerard Hengen, Colton Wilson, Clint Duke, Malcolm Rice, Dave Rice and Megan Anderson. Interment in the Poplar Grove Cemetery to follow.
Due to technical difficulties the service was recorded and available for viewing with the link below.
Donation in memory of Cal may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K1V9.
