She was born in Ft. Bragg, NC on November 28, 1945 and she married Willie Newkirk on December 4, 1964. She worked for Poole and Fuller for 19 years and always had stories to tell. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and went to every Wednesday service she could attend. Her favorite butterfly was the swallowtail, and if you ever visited her you knew how much pride she had in her butterfly garden. She loved to cook, especially biscuits, quiches, and Thanksgiving cranberry sauce. She had a passion for volunteering and spending time with family, particularly spoiling her seven grandchildren with ice cream or a sweet treat.
She is survived by Michelle Newkirk-Markoe, Jacob Markoe, William Markoe, Melissa Mnookin (Stephen), Samuel Mnookin, Sara Mnookin, Caroline Kiely (John), Kaitlyn Kiely, Mary Kiely, Madeline Kiely, Walter Davis Martin Jr. (Debbie), Aaron Martin, Morgan Martin (Jeff), Elliott Keyser Robert Moore, and her husband, William "Willie" Newkirk.
