Joseph Devine

Dr. Joseph R. Devine "Doc", age 83, of Orlando FL, went peacefully to our Lord July 8, 2012. He was one of three sons born to the late Patrick and Margaret Devine of Cloonfush, Ireland. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia and his 5 children: Daniel (Jacqueline), Kathleen (Peter), Eileen (Wade), Mary (Jeffrey) and Tom (Christine). His 11 grandchildren gave him great joy: Kathleen, Madeline Marie, Joseph, Matthew, Mary Elizabeth, Jacob, Ethan, Evan, Dylan, Garrett and Madeline Eileen. Joseph was "Dr. Devine" to countless beloved patients over his 50 year career in Optometry. His profession enabled him to follow his true passion - his interest in people and helping them. He was always in a state of gratitude for this blessing and encouraged his children to strive for the same satisfaction in their own lives. Outside of the office, if Joseph was not on the tennis court (winning, of course) or on a boat, he was in a faraway land. He and Pat traveled the world and put his Classical Catholic education to good use. The legacy of his life is to never stop learning, keep meeting new friends and to always enjoy a good laugh. A celebration of his life will be held at Carey Hand Funeral Home (1350 W Fairbanks Ave 32789) on Weds July 11th from 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 12th at 10:00 am at St Charles Catholic Church (4001 Edgewater Dr. 32804).
