Jennie P. Brown, aged 83, passed away on October 27, 2024, in Deland, Florida in the presence of her son. Born on June 29, 1941, Jennie dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a loving family member and in her professional career as a nurse.
Jennie's career was marked by her compassionate service at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, where she worked as an ICU Nurse and later as a Department Head. After her tenure at the hospital, she continued to impact lives through her work as a Private Care Nurse. Her commitment to healthcare was profound, touching the lives of many patients and their families.
She was a graduate of Meyers Park High School, Charlotte N.C and furthered her education at Presbyterian School of Nursing, Queens University in Charlotte, N.C, which laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to nursing.
Jennie was a devout member of the United Methodist Church, where she participated actively in community and church activities. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and comfort through her journey.
In her leisure time, Jennie was an avid reader and quilter, a hobby that not only showcased her artistic talent but also her desire to provide warmth and comfort to those around her.
Jennie leaves behind a loving family: her sister Leslie Drew; daughters Catherine O'Rourke (husband John O'Rourke) and Christine Brown; son Mike Brown (wife Terri Brown); and grandchildren Alex O’Rourke (wife Lisa O’Rourke) Amber Reeve, Donovan O'Rourke (wife Cailin O'Rourke), Alyssa Lane (husband Christian Lane), Darian Huckabey (husband Dillon Huckabey), and Cameron O'Rourke (wife Paige O'Rourke). Great grandchildren Riley, Aria, Dany O’Rourke, and Ada Neely.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles H. and Leslie Purifoy, and her beloved husband, Ardrey S. (Buddy) Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 3rd at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Ave, Winter Park, FL 32792. Visitation 1:00-3:00 pm, with funeral services at 3:00 pm.
Jennie's legacy of love, care, and compassion will forever be cherished and remembered by those who knew her.
