James Earl Karnes, age 77, of Frostproof, Florida entered into rest peacefully at home on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Jim was born on April 2, 1946 in West Hamlin, West Virginia.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years before being honorably discharged, later retiring from truck driving. He was a proud member and sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous, but there was nothing anonymous about his 41 year journey as he was very involved in teaching classes and being open and honest about his sobriety for anyone he felt needed to know. He was an advocate for those that struggled.
Jim is survived by his loving children, Christina Speakman, Angela Williams, and Brian Staten, all of Lake Wales, FL, as well as Robert Karnes, James K. Karnes, and Jennifer Karnes, currently living in Germany, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Mae Adkins and James H. Karnes, as well as step-father Vester Adkins, and one sister, Judy Hughes.
