Linda Padgett Jackson, aged 62, passed away peacefully on July 13th 2015 in Orlando, Florida with her family and friends by her side. She was born the second and oldest daughter to John and Laura Inez Padgett in Quincy, Florida on October 17, 1952. Linda is survived by her loving husband, David Jackson, of Orlando, Florida, her two sons, Bryan Schmick (Abby), Kevin Schmick (Laurel), her daughter Katrina Laica (Stephen), and four grandchildren Jordan, Peyton, Madelynn, and Landon. She also left behind two stepsons Jeff Jackson, and Kenneth Jackson (Gina) and four step grandchildren, Kenneth, Eric, Ryan, and Elizabeth. Linda had four siblings, Wayne Padgett (Patricia), Charlene Corbitt (Larry), Renee Holderbach, Stephen Padgett, and five nieces and nephews.
Linda grew up in Orlando and graduated from Evans High School. She later obtained a degree in Interior Design from Southern College. She lived in Minnesota for a short period of time with her first husband, Steve Schmick, and later moved back to Florida where she raised her three children. She worked as an office manager for Bionomics Laboratory, and later as an administrative assistant for serval other companies before staying home to assist in caring for her grandchildren.
Linda was a beautiful, sweet, fun-loving woman who loved traveling with Dave. She and Dave cruised to Alaska, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Caribbean and traveled numerous places in the United States. Linda loved spending vacations in the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia and they both liked trying out new restaurants during their travels. She and Dave regularly attended concerts and plays at the Doctor Phillips Performing Arts Center. She loved and cared for her family and her friends and especially enjoyed family gatherings on holidays. One of the greatest joys in her life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday July 16th at the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home - Winter Garden Chapel, 428 E Plant St, Winter Garden, FL 34787. A Funeral service will be held at 11am Friday July 17th at the same location. A graveside service will follow at the Doctor Phillips Cemetery, 5398 Apopka-Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL 32819.
