Greg was cherished and respected by so many. He was the best husband, father and grandfather his family could’ve ever asked for. He always provided for them and protected them well, always putting them before himself. He was a loyal and caring friend to many. He was a smart, hardworking, fair and successful business owner and master electrician for over 40 years. He was also a part of the Boy Scouts and eventually earned the title of Eagle Scout, which he was very proud of. Greg was very grounded and outspoken in his faith and in his love for the Lord. All his life he strived to love like Jesus.
Greg is survived by his wife of over 39 years, Christine Akers; his oldest son Adam Akers (daughter-in-law Amanda and grandsons Haydon, Mason and Cade); his only daughter Amanda Akers-McGlothlin (son-in-law Shawn, granddaughters Mariah and Macy, and grandson Maddox); his youngest son Andrew Akers (daughter-in-law Jessica and grandsons Ace and Kash); his mother Ellen Akers; and his sisters Myra Hayes and Michele Payton. He is preceded in death by his father Allen Wayne Akers; his brother David Allen Akers; and his grandson Lincoln David Akers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the Church at the Cross located at 700 Good Homes Road, Orlando, FL 32818.
