Betty Sue Quigley

Sue was 84 years young with a zest for life. She was the mother of five girls, yes five, two of which preceded her in death: Elizabeth Bryan and Billie Burnsed. Her remaining three daughters (Vicki Clark, Debra Harrell and Barbra Joyner) were blessed to be with Sue in her final days. Sue had eight grandchildren: Scott, Matt, Jacob, April, Amy, Chris, Gary and Stephanie. She was a great grandmother to nine: Morgan, Cameron, Ethan, Tyler, Libby, Abby, Axel, Trey and Trish.

Sue came from a large family in Gastonia, North Carolina – 5 sisters and 4 brothers. She was preceded in death by: brothers Hugh, Bobby, Bynum, Ronnie and sisters Ruth and Faye. Sue has three remaining sisters that she loved dearly and talked to often: Sadie, Vivian and Patricia.

One of Sue’s greatest accomplishments as well as pleasures was working as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She loved nursing and helped people in several of the best known nursing homes in Orlando. She truly found her calling when she nursed psychiatric patients at Florida Hospital South. She absolutely loved it and had many stories to tell about her wonderful experiences at the hospital.

Sue, MOM, loved to fish, golf, bowl and have crab feasts. After supper every night, she would have to have her sweetening time which always included some kind of chocolate. She loved Jesus and loved telling everyone about him. She sang and played “little diddies” on any piano she could find. Sue was never taught how to play the piano but she was quite good at playing by ear.

Sue never met a stranger. If she could not remember someone’s name, she made up a nickname on the spot. Sue was able to tackle any problem and achieve what she set out to accomplish. One of her favorite sayings was, “You’re looking at the strongest woman in the world.” None of her daughters disagree. Sue was certainly “one-of-a-kind”. She will be missed each and every day.
