Barbara V. Connell went peacefully to her rest, after a long struggle with various health issues, in the afternoon of December 30th, 2020.
Barbara was born in Orlando, Florida on August 21st, 1938 and lived in College Park until her semi-retirement from her career as a Registered Nurse at ORMC.
Barbara was first and foremost a caregiver throughout her life; caring for her siblings as a young woman growing up in Orlando. She later postponed her dream of becoming a nurse to lovingly raise her 3 boys. She cared for their father Randall Dauphinee as he battled cancer until his death in 1978. During his battle, she managed to return to and accomplish her life’s dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Florida Southern College, a testimony of her ability to balance the many important things going on in her life and to her perseverance. After Randall's passing, she remarried to a high school sweetheart Robert Connell (Bob) and remained married to him until his passing on December 3, 2000.
She moved with Bob to Cullowhee, North Carolina in the mid ‘80s; another of her dreams accomplished. The mountains and all its ways became her new love. During this time, she continued nursing and serving others and even found time to help her son with "Camp Grandma", caring for her grandkids when she could get them up to her mountain home. After Bob's passing, her failing health brought a return to Florida and the care of her family.
She is preceded in death by son Randall P Dauphinee, her husbands Robert G. Connell and Randall E. Dauphinee, her sister Carol Deppershmidt, her step-son Billy Connell, and her niece Tasha Schindler-Bezner.
She is survived by her loving sons Mike and Jeff Dauphinee and Jeff’s wife Lorisa, her step-son Bobby Connell, her sister and best friend Marilyn Schindler, her favorite baby brother Robert Walker. Grandchildren: Cory Dauphinee, Tyler Dauphinee, Kolleen Dauphinee, Kristina Dauphinee, and Michael Dauphinee. Nieces: Valerie Condon, Angela Adams and nephews: Tony Depperschmidt, Nathan Schindler and Collin Walker and her great-grandchild, Gavin Dauphinee .
