Mr. Robert (Bob) Carroll Parrish, 86 years old, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina died on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Novant Health Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mr. Parrish was born on August 06, 1936 in Winston-Salem to Sidney Monroe Parrish and Alma Pope Parrish. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Rev. William Parrish, and his two half-brothers, Sidney Parrish, Jr. and Dixon Parrish. Bob graduated from Hanes High School. He was employed for many years as a shipping coordinator for the railroad system (including the Norfolk and Southern Railway, Norfolk and Western Railway, the Chesapeake Railway and the Atlantic and Western Railway as they continued to merge) as well as Pilot Freight. He later worked for Lee Jeans in their office administration unit. After his retirement, Bob devoted his talents to Crisis Control Ministry of WS for more than 16 years. He also volunteered as a transporter for patients.
Bob was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church where he was a dedicated elder and sang in the choir for over 25 years. His faith and devotion to God were exemplified in his many acts of kindness. Bob’s joyful personality was an inspiration to all. He is survived by his cousins, Sharon Cline Bennett (Rodney), Nick Miller, Jr. (Brenda) and Joe Minton (Renee), as well as many other relatives and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Parkway Presbyterian Church at 3pm with Dr. Thom Burleson officiating. Prior to the service, the family will be receiving friends beginning at 2pm. Burial will be Monday at 2pm at Forsyth Memorial Park.
