October 8, 1946 – December 25, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Wayne Neil on early December 25, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer.
Wayne was born on October 8, 1946 in Winnipeg. He is predeceased by his mother, Jennie and father, Stanley Neil. Wayne leaves to mourn his wife of 43 years, Donna; daughters Cheryl and Colleen, his son-in-laws Ed Bronk and Eric Beauchesne; cherished grandchildren Justin, Rachel & Jayson Bronk, and Cassie & Chloé Beauchesne; brothers Bob (Carole) and Brian (Jeanette), nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Donna on February 25, 1967. In their early years, Dad enjoyed many summers at the lake with family and friends. In the 80’s, Dad and Mom became avid fans of Sprint car and Late Model racing. During racing season, Wayne could be found at the Grand Forks (Little Canada) Race Track Friday evenings, sitting in the stands on turn one with a beer in hand and his buddies Norm, Sandi, Rod, Diane and Gerry nearby.
At the age of 19, Wayne began his career with Ford Mercury dealerships. He stayed within the Ford family until 2009. Dad was a valued member of Ford Parts and Services; he was greatly appreciated by the mechanics and service staff he worked with for more than 40 years.
Family was important to Dad, he took great pride and joy in his grandchildren, they will deeply miss their Grandpa. His wife, daughters and their husbands will miss his smiling face and giving nature. His kind and caring spirit will always be remembered by those who knew him.
In accordance with Wayne’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Friends and family were invited to celebrate Dad’s life at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Klassen Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Brian, Bob, Phyllis and Rod for their care and support throughout Wayne’s hospital stay. We also want to thank Dr. Abdulrehman, and nursing and health aides on the 3rd floor, northeast wing, of Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
