Peacefully, following an indescribably hard-fought battle with illness, we are heartbroken to announce the passing of Bob Siemens with his wife Celina by his side, in the early hours of November 27, 2024 at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg.
Earlier in the day he had been surrounded with love by several other family members gathered around his bedside. He was 64 years old.
Bob was a lifelong loyal servant of God until the end of his life. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Celina, son Jeremy, daughter Carly, stepson Callum, stepdaughter Keely, and granddaughter Reaven. Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings Arlene (Duane), Reynald (Vanessa), Bev (Kelly), Lyle (Sandie), Derek (Sajda), and Shawna (Kevin); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Lottie, his sister Joanne (Rob), his sister Brenda (in infancy), his beloved son Andrew, and his former wife and mother of his children, Judy (Frank).
Bob was born on November 10, 1960 to Clarence and Lottie Siemens, and grew up near Rosenort, Manitoba in a devoted Christian home. He and his siblings were involved in the work of the farm from an early age, rising early every morning to gather eggs before school. If his sisters would sing or even hum while they worked, it would cost their dad a bunch of eggs as Bob attempted to keep the girls in line!
Bob enjoyed working with the laying hens, and also participated in hockey, church youth group at Pleasant Valley Church, riding dirt bikes, and riding horses. As a youth, he attended Bible College in Abbotsford, BC. Bob tried his hand as an electrician’s helper, masonry, farming with his brother Reynald, driving a concrete truck, and then committed to long distance truck driving. He prided himself on his driving record over 19 years of two million miles with no at fault accidents. After coming off the road in 2013, he purchased Pro Truck Repair, and later sold the business when he moved to Winnipeg to semi-retire. In Winnipeg, he built his rental property portfolio, and “kept out of trouble” with a variety of part time jobs until his health made working difficult.
Bob married Judy in 1984. Their first son Jeremy was born in 1989, followed by Andrew in 1991 and Carly in 1996. Bob was a dedicated husband and father, sacrificing time with his family to provide abundantly for them. Even though he was away from home a lot for work, when he came home he fully immersed himself in his family life. He always took very good care of the people and things he loved, whether it was his tools, his vehicles, or his family. In 2003, tragedy struck the family when Bob’s son Andrew passed away suddenly at the age of 12. This devastating event changed Bob forever but his deep faith helped him continue to move forward. Now that Bob has passed into the arms of our Lord, we know that he and Andrew are together once again and are having the most joyful reunion.
Bob remarried to Celina in 2016 and together they enjoyed almost 9 years of marriage before his passing. They loved to travel together, and made multiple trips to Mexico, Australia, and Europe, as well as shorter road trips within Manitoba. Celina will be forever grateful for the time they had together even though it was cut short too soon.
A Funeral Service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home , 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Rosenort Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank the staff in the Cardiac Care Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital for their compassionate expertise in caring for Bob over the past five weeks, as well as the staff at the Heart Function Clinic at St. Boniface Hospital for their dedicated care over the past several years.
Donations in Bob’s memory for those who so wish may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (Cardiac Care) or Inner City Youth Alive.
