Mom was born in Winnipeg to Frank and Selina Graban. She was predeceased be her daughter, Laura; granddaughter Alize; and her son-in-law Peter Lockett. Mom is survived by her children Virginia, Kelay (Larry), and Peter (Angela); and grandchildren Madisen, Maurghen and Carson, all of whom have fond memories of her.
Mom lived a long and wonderful life. After completing a degree in Home Economics at the University of Manitoba, she volunteered overseas with the Canadian Red Cross Corps during WWII and worked in London at the Maple Leaf Club. While in London she met many Canadian and allied service members and never forgot their sacrifices. Mom was awarded the Canadian Voluntary Service medal in recognition of her work overseas.
Margaret loved watching horse races first at Polo Park and later at Assiniboia Downs. Summers were spent at Lester Beach where she enjoyed watching sunsets over the lake. Mom always enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, a rum on the deck, and having her family around the dinner table.
Our thanks go to the wonderful staff at West Park Manor for caring for our lady in purple. The family has held a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
