Mr. Joseph Aime Robidoux

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Aimé Robidoux, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather (Pépère), aged 82 years on March 2, 2011, with his loving wife at his side. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Annette (Rouire), son George (Celine), daughter Marilyne (Pat Rixon), son Gerry (Gerald) (Lori), granddaughters Joelle (Jeff), Meagan, Aleena, and Aimee, and step-grandchildren Mark, Angelica, Vincent and Kyle. He also leaves to mourn his sister Yvette (Roland) Jolicoeur, brother Denis, and many nieces, nephews and other family. He is also lovingly remembered by his Rouire in-laws whom he was as close to as his own family, as well as by many of his dedicated lifelong friends, church friends and coffee buddies.

Joe was born in Haywood, Manitoba, the eldest child of Wilfrid and Eugénie (Balez) Robidoux who predeceased him, and was also predeceased by brothers Emile and Henri. Joe and Annette were married in 1953 and were the perfect example of love and devotion throughout their 57 years together. He enjoyed Goldeyes baseball games, family get-togethers, laughing with friends, driving the lawn tractor, old-time music, playing cards, doing puzzles and a good scotch. His optimism, kindness, generosity, humour and gentle spirit are only a few of the qualities everyone loved about him. Dad celebrated each and every moment of his life and fought courageously to remain with us as long as he could. While we will miss him deeply, we will always be inspired by the memory of his unwavering strength in any of our weaker moments. We are so proud of the legacy he has left us, that of a loving husband, super dad, amazing Pépère, and a great man. The family would like to thank Father Leo Couture, Fr. Kevin Bettens, the organist as well as the choir from St. Eugene Church, Dr. Cavers, Dr. Munsamy, Dr. Maxwell, nurses and staff on 5S at the Victoria General Hospital, particularly nurse Maryann who helped Dad in his final moments, Kelvin of Home Oxygen, nurse Val, and Beth & Crystal and all other Home Care workers. A special thank you to Dr. Smil and to Dr. Richman-Eisenstat, who went above and beyond the call of duty for Dad.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at St. Eugene Church, 1007 St Mary’s Rd, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1P6 or to Cancer Care Manitoba.
