After a few years of health challenges, Edward Duncan passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, on April 14, 2023.
Ed is survived by his sisters Barbara MacInnes (Alan), Beverly Tinkler, and his brother Donald Duncan (Janis), as well as several nieces, nephews, and their respective children. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Brian Tinkler.
Ed was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 7, 1943, the first child of Ed and Jean Duncan (Bird). He was raised and lived in Winnipeg his entire life. After working with Kingsway Transport for many years, he moved on as an owner/operator courier for 25 years until his retirement.
Ed was gifted musically, and music was his passion. He was an accomplished pianist/organist and singer. Ed played at many weddings, funerals, church services and seniors’ homes throughout Winnipeg over several decades. He sang with the Manitoba Opera, the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, the Winnipeg Seniors Choir, and other choirs throughout his life.
Ed was recently honoured by the Manitoba Opera acknowledging his having appeared in 50 operas.
Ed always had a sincere smile and a good-natured spirit. He will be missed particularly by his family and long-time friend Clint Wilmot.
Consistent with his wishes, there will be no funeral.
