He was a talented athlete who enjoyed playing and coaching hockey. His numerous trophies showcased his abilities in bowling, curling, softball, and golfing. Many of Don’s friendships were forged on the golf course. He scored a hole in one three times the last time when he was 70 years old. Don missed his times on the golf course terribly when it became impossible for him to continue. Don was also a gifted artist. Up until a few years ago he also did the daily puzzles (crossword, crytograms etc.) in the Free Press. He and Pat had a wonderful trip to Scotland where he golfed and visited the Menzies Castle. He a wonderful sense of humour and loved to tease and tell tall tales.
His children remember how Dad along with Mom made our home a loving and welcoming place not just for us but for our many friends several of whom considered them second parents. We have many good memories of family trips, camping, family gatherings and playing games together. He loved deeply and we love him and miss him greatly.
