Dave AndrewssenBAK was a Danish immigrant. He worked on his sponsor's farm in Watson, Sask. for several years before he made his way to Winnipeg. There he worked as a janitor, went into Northeastern Ontario to cut cord lumber, and returned to Winnipeg and got a job as an Orderly at the St. Boniface Hospital. He studied anesthesiology and worked at that trade until he completed a course in accounting. Here is where he would make his mark. He was a self-made man who took the time to help raise four boys. He taught us how to think, how to plan, and how to realize what was happening around us as he taught us the game of chess. We lovingly called him "tse whiz", ever since he mis-pronounced "Gee Whiz". We laughed at him when he tried to hit his golf ball around a tree and it came straight back at him and ended his game for the day. I am sitting here laughing at the time he set up camp in the middle of the night on a "great flat spot", which turned out to be a golf green. So many great times, so many great memories. He was more of a father to me than my own. We may have lost touch with each other over the years, but Tse Whiz will never be forgotten. Rick Sabiston, Calmar, Alberta.
