Darryl lived life full on with love and generosity, humor, perseverance, and hard work. His big smile and quick wit brought fun and joy to all who knew him. Darryl was raised in Boissevain, MB and attended Brandon University and University of Victoria, where he attained his Master’s Degree in Economics. He worked hard from a young age and had a rewarding life. Darryl developed and managed the RoadWise safety program at MPI, and was a Communications and Marketing Specialist who taught at the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and at Red River College in Business Communications and Management until the end of his career. He was a contributing author on a number of publications in the areas of Business Administration, and Communications, including co-writing a textbook.
With his family and friends, Darryl was the king of fun. There were nonstop adventures with weekends at the lake soaking up the sun, captaining his boat and taking the kids water skiing, tubing and fishing. The family enjoyed road trips to British Columbia and day-to-day humorous encounters. Every event in Darryl’s life had a beautiful, matching music playlist. At home, Darryl made delicious meals and would serve them saying, “made with love.” He could design and build whatever we asked for (especially if he could buy a new tool). He always looked for ways to help others, expecting nothing in return. His love for others was deep and true.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darryl’s honour to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
