1919-2015
Alma Richard, aged 95, passed away peacefully at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre) on January 7th, 2015. Alma was born on the family’s homestead farm south of Lake Alma, Saskatchewan, working in Saskatchewan and Ontario before settling in Winnipeg.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lucille Strom, as well as by many nieces and nephews from both the Strom and Richard families.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Eugene (Chuck) Richard in 2008, her parents, Otelius and Petra Strom, her sisters, Ethel (Lund), Ida (Petterson), Marvellous (Tylandsvik) and brothers, Martin, Harold, Earl and Melvin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Their 52 years together were devoted to one another and her final years without Chuck were lonely ones. She had fond memories of the numerous trips taken together. Traveling, camping, skiing, gardening and love of nature were their passions. How she enjoyed sharing those memories with photos! Alma’s artistic and creative talents were reflected in her exquisite needlework, which she generously shared with many family members.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre) on Despins Street in St. Boniface, for taking such good care of Alma during her short stay; thank you especially for your kindness, patience and understanding. Many thanks also to the staff and administration at Cathedral Manor in St. Boniface where Alma was for over three years. She was so well looked after – such wonderful caring people.
Farewell to an elegant and spirited lady – you will be missed! Rest in peace Alma.
A private graveside service was held at the Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.
