It is with great sadness that we learned that our Uncle Bill has passed away.  We are very sad we were not there.  Loved our Uncle Bill - he had a smile and terrific outlook that lite up a room.  Our dad Murray Wellerd(Younger brother of 2 yrs.) passed just 11 days before Uncle Bill.  Our hearts, prayers and love to all.  Cindy (Wellerd) & Morris Cimoroni and brother Greg Wellerd.

Bill was a great man and a true gentleman , a wonderful Father, Grand father , brother , uncle  and friend. Bill told the best stories about the building of the expressways in Detroit and the demolition projects that he worked on.  He dug the basement for my house on Labour Day of 1985 and would not take anything for doing it.  The Smith Brothers stories that still circulate around the city always come back to something " Big Toe Billy " said or did while working for Dick. It was a honour and a privelidge to work with some of the great operators through the years and Bill was not only a great operator but a great man.  Surely to be missed by family and friends alike.  Rest easy my friend.

We at the Tim Hortons on Ottawa Street lovingly called him Mr. Bill. He was always ever so patient with all of us and always greeted us with a smile. He will be sadly missed by our entire staff. He was definitely a ray of sunshine to all. Condolences and prayers sent to his family and friends.

I remember the hours and days and nights I and my siblings spent chasing cousins around Uncle Bills and Aunt Marges house on Moy Ave. I brought my husband Bill to meet Uncle Bill and Cousin Bill. I brought my children to meet  their Great Uncle Bill and Great Aunt Marge. I always enjoyed sharing my name with my cousin and enjoyed my aunt Shirley Anne getting scolded by Aunt Marge for my cousin Shirl's  antics. Because our dad Joe and our family lived in Garson  (Sudbury) we only got to visit Bill and Marge and your  family on our vacation time . Later as an adult ,i was able to spend more time visiting you. I always, always looked forward to my time with your family whether i was coming from northern Ontario or the states or from across the ocean. I will miss you Uncle Bill but now you are with my Dad and the other Clarke family members that have gone beyond  a veil that will not let us see you or be hugged by you anymore anymore.I loved being your niece and will miss you. My condolences to my cousins and their families.
