Passed away peacefully at the age of 97. Born in Vineland, Ontario, Nora spent more than eighty years as a proud Windsor resident before moving to a seniors’ residence in Oakville to be closer to family. Beloved wife of Ray (deceased) (1995). Dearly loved mother of Ron (Kerri), Marlene Gris (nee Reid) (Val), Dan (deceased), Chris (Grazyna). Grandmother to Stephanie Gris Bringas (Andrew), Andrew Gris (Tina), Nicholas Reid (Angela) and Rev. Fr. Stephen Reid. Great Grandmother to Abigail Bringas, Audrey Bringas, Bernadette Reid and Eilis Reid. Aunt to Karen Cullen (nee Reid) and David Reid. Sister-in-law to Velma Abildgaard. Former mother-in-law to Louis Gris. Predeceased by her parents Valdimar and Jenny Abildgaard, her sister Marjorie Squair (nee Blake), and her two brothers Vern and Christopher. Nora had been a devoted congregant of Westminster United Church in Windsor for many years where she had also been a member of the church choir and deeply involved with various church volunteer groups. In addition, Nora had been a long time member of the Marjorie K Club, associated with the Windsor YWCA. In her spare time, when still residing in Windsor, Nora developed a reputation as a talented cake baker and decorator for birthdays and weddings of family and dear friends. She later busied herself with ceramics which she gifted to many recipients. During her working years, Nora was a long time employee of Windsor Truck and Storage Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre , 895 Ouellette Avenue, on Monday, April 29th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Anderson Memorial Chapel, followed by a reception at the Funeral Home for friends and family. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, Nora would have appreciated donations to the Windsor Humane Society in keeping with her love of her furry companions over the years.
