Mary Louise Campbell

She was born at Meadville, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1930 to Mary Louise (Faust) Schnars and Harold Kingsley Schnars. The Faust family was from Montgomery, Alabama and Mary was determined to keep Southern family traditions.

In 1947 she married Lyle Spencer in Meadville and made her home there for her six children: Kathy, Trudy, Debbie, Cindy, Mike and Jeff. They enjoyed trips to the outdoor movie theater, eating footlong hot dogs at Eddie’s and desert at Hank’s Frozen Custard.

In 1966 she married John H. Campbell in Erie, PA, had a son, Harold, and moved to Windsor, Ontario with her three boys to be closer to John’s family. They shared the home of his parents, Elsie and Gustave Bodechon, and spent much time with Campbell’s children: June, Donna, Marguerite, John and Ron, along with their families. Campbell also had many siblings, their wives and children.

After John died in 2002, Mary devoted her care to her ailing daughter, Cindy, who passed in 2006 after a long illness. This was Mary’s ‘special’ child as evidenced by the proud stories she would tell of Cindy’s many accomplishments in life and by the scores of pictures of her in the family albums.

Mary was proud to have attended for many years the Windsor Cardiac Care Center for fitness after heart bypass. She encouraged others there and participated in their annual fashion show by being a runway model. She maintained her independence and self-care up until early 2019 when heart and kidney failure were determined to slow her down.

She loved life and people and fought hard right up to the end to survive to spend more time with her family and friends - having fun, traveling and living life to the full!

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, one son, two daughters, one stepson and one stepdaughter; many friends and relatives; and her beloved cats and dogs.

Mary is survived by two daughters, two sons, two stepdaughters, one stepson, many grand-children and great grand-children.

Due to the travel restrictions currently in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre at a later date. Please give donations to the Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
