My sympathies to Gordon's wife Charlene and his nephew Ken.

I had the pleasure of being Gordon's Massage Therapist for several years.  I always looked forward to seeing him.  He was a very strong man, an interesting man who was sharp as a tack.  I loved taking garden tours with him in order to view his favorite flowers and plants before I provided his therapy.  He was a wonderful story teller.  I learned alot about his first hand experiences in WWII.  I remember him talking about a specific incidence in the war and I watched as a teardrop gently rolled down his face.  I understood that being in a war would change a person.....forever!  I also gained so much respect for him and to the many other people who fought in that war.  He had so much pain in his very arthritic body (I believe from the numerous parachute jumps he made in service)  that I often wondered just where to begin, but it gave me so much pleasure to hear him say...."you know, now I can actually comb my hair myself without pain in my shoulder".  I always hoped that by the time I returned the next time, his pain would dissappear completely, but unfortunately it would come back, but I took pride in helping him to feel better, even if it was only for a day or so.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen Gord in many, many years, but I often think of him, particularly in the summertime as the absolutely gorgeous orange trumpet vine he gave me allows me to once again say to myself "thanks Gord, my (or should I say, your) trumpet vine is magnificient!"

Hello Debbie and family.  I am  so sorry to hear about your father. You always spoke highly of him.  I wish I would have meet him.  I checked with my daughter who was working as a student nurse and she actually remembered him as a patient.  She remembers his great sense of humour and his happy attitude.  I now know who you take after, Deb.  You always have such a positive attitude and great sense of humour.  
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

To Gord's Family,
I was very saddened to hear of Gord's sudden death. I shall miss our talks and laughter with him and reminiscing past WWII war stories. Gord has been a trusted friend of mine and Stan Peterson, for well over 60 years as we were WWII veterans who served with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion (C.A.O.). You shall be deeply missed my friend.
