Passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2012 at Iler Lodge at 90 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Muriel (1999). Loving father of Pamela Douglas (John) Cayman Islands, Ted Jr. (Julie) Amherstburg, and Bruce (Valerie) Scarborough. Loving grandfather of Sean, Sabrina, Jordan (Kristin), Courtney (Natalie), Kelly (Anthony), and Tara. Great-grandfather of Ruby. Predeceased by sisters Vera Arbuthnot (the late Waldo) and Wilma Coburn (the late Haydon), and by brothers Neville Rivington (the late Florence), Garrett Rivington (the late Maysie), and Norman Rivington. Brother-in-law of Audrey Rivington. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rivington of Navan, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Ted served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from April 1941 through September 1945 as part of the No. 409 Canadian Nightfighter Squadron seeing action in Europe during WWII. After the war, Ted attended Queens University in Kingston graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Ted worked for the Ford Motor Company of Canada for 32 years retiring in 1982. Ted was a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594. Visitation will be held at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (1969 Wyandotte St. E.) on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2–4 & 7–9 p.m. with a Veterans Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. under the auspices of Windsor Veterans Memorial Service Committee. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens on Highway 3. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society.
