Trudi Travis Dalton, age 54, of Winder, GA, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013. She was a member at Winder First United Methodist Church. She was a registered nurse at Dekalb Medical Center where she worked for two years. Throughout her career, Trudi also worked as a nurse at Dr. Huff’s office for 15 years, a Morgan County school nurse for eight years, and a supervisor for the Athens Red Cross for five years. She was very artistic and enjoyed making pottery, cross-stitching, embroidering, felting, shopping at thrift stores, playing Scrabble, and spending time with her family. Trudi was also an avid reader. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, caregiver, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lon Paul and Louise Green Travis. Survivors include her husband, Curtis Edward Dalton; her son, David (Cassie) Dalton of Winder; her sister, Tina (Greg) Kiker of Smith Lake, AL; two grandchildren, Reece and Riley Dalton of Winder; and a nephew, Jason (Natalia) Travis of Canton, GA. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 6-9 PM at Smith Funeral Home, Winder. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Tippins officiating. The interment will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens, Winder. Flowers are accepted, but donations to the American Red Cross of Athens are preferred. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
