Larry Benjamin Millsap

Larry Benjamin Millsap, age 76, of Dacula, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Larry was born on July 17, 1946 in Fulton County to the late Virgil Benjamin Millsap and Jewell Wynell “Nell” Smith Millsap. He is also preceded in death by his two sisters: Janice Head and Carol Lovelace.

Larry graduated from Lithonia High School and attended Liberty University. Larry was a police officer for several different agencies including Powder Springs Police Department, Gwinnett County Police Department, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrenceville Police Department, and Statham Police Department. After this, he worked 19 years as a Marshall for the city of Dacula. Larry was an ordained minister and an associate pastor. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and a proud member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association and was also an avid hunter.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sherry Grimes Millsap of Dacula, GA. He is also survived by his two children: Joy Carey (Patrick) of Winder, GA and Matt Millsap of Dacula, GA as well as his six grandchildren: Payton Carey, Brittany Millsap, Levi Millsap, Karlie Millsap, Layla Millsap, and Lilly Millsap.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service to honor the memory of Larry will follow the visitation in Smith Memory Chapel at 2:00 pm.
