Jimmy "Cotton" Sell

Jimmy “Cotton” Sell, age 88 of Winder, passed away on October 27, 2023. He was born in Hoschton, GA to the late Wilhelmina Fite and James Frank Sell. He was a 1954 graduate of Winder High School and he served honorably in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1963. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Winder. Jimmy was an avid UGA Bulldog football fan. He loved working in his booth at Athens Antiques and Vintage. Jimmy and his late wife, Jean Sammons Sell, were married 57 years. Jimmy will be remembered for his humble nature, curious mind, kind heart and meticulous attention to detail.

Jimmy is survived by his niece Melissa (Bill) Nunnally; nephew Mike (Debbie) Jackson; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Jackson; his sister, Sue Anne Ridgeway; other nephews Alan (Sue) Ridgeway, and Brian (Wendy) Ridgeway; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be at the Barrow Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Thursday, November 2 at 11:00 am. Services will be officiated by Pastor Dave Hinson.
