Elias "Tony" Hajjar

Elias "Tony" Hajjar, age 88, of Statham, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Tony was born January 9, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, to parents E. Mourab Hajjar and Nabeeha Hajjar. He graduated high school in June 1952. Tony enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1952 and served his country until July 1956. He was employed by Department of the Air Force from December 1956 until his first retirement in 1987. Tony then moved to Griffin, Georgia and worked in Henry County and City Law Enforcements Departments from 1987 through 1997. In 1997, Tony retired for a second time and moved to The Villages of Florida. He lived there until 2013 after which he moved to Statham, Georgia. Tony was deeply devoted to his family and he was always there for his family and friends. Tony had a passion for golf was a regular at the Pine Hills Golf Club in Winder. He will also be remembered for his handyman abilities and his attention to fine details.

Tony Hajjar is survived by his daughters: Rita (James) Mace, Kellie Hajjar, and Leslie (Tim) Peek; grandchildren: Thomas Farries, Joey Mace, and Sarah Peek; and great grandchildren: Bradley Ford and Katherine Larkin.

In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in passing by his wife Jean Hajjar; daughter: Joni Rayfield; grandchildren: Julie Ford, Jimmy Mace, and Jacob Hajjar-Peek; and four siblings.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia. Following the visitation will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM in Smith Memory Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Tony's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
