Barbara Sue Smith was born March 16,1949 to Martha Estelle Hayes and L. Curtis Smith. She grew up in Barrow County and graduated from Winder Barrow High School. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her brothers Gene, Jack, L.C. and Steve and a sister Sara Haygood.
She was survived by two sisters, Carolyn Harris of Bethlehem GA, Martha Lovins of Dacula GA, and a brother Joseph Smith of Elijay, GA. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. Annabelle her cat was the love of her life .
After graduation, Babs worked and lived in Atlanta in the business world and was very successful. She was transferred to Pensacola, Florida in 1992 where she continued to work for Global Oil Company. Before returning to Winder, she received her Massage Therapist License from Pensacola State College and worked in this field for many years. She loved developing new friendships and easing others pain by the work that she did.
Babs loved all and all that knew her loved her. She had a wealth of knowledge and could really tell a story. She never let her disease stop her or get her down. She was a inspiration to everyone. She will be so missed.
A Memorial Service will take place for Babs on Tuesday June 29, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Smith Memory Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation from 2:00 until time of the service.
