Johnny B. Walston, Sr., age 80, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. He was born August 31, 1944 to the late Robert Edward Walston and Kathryn Baum Walston and was also predeceased by his sister Janet Lilley.
Johnny was an avid golfer, loved to bowl and really enjoyed fishing. He was also an enthusiastic Duke basketball fan.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 30 years Lorene Walston, his son Johnny B. Walston, Jr and his wife Mary of Lucama, his daughter Jana Winders and her husband Rick of Wilson, his stepson Larry Etheridge and his wife Jennifer of Elm City, his grandchildren, Madison Winders, Benjamin Winders, his step grandchildren , Christopher Long, Emma Etheridge, Hayden Bridgers and Malice Overman, his sister-in-law Doris Davis, his niece Christy Lilley and Mike Lilley.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 at 7 PM in the chapel of Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home with Rick Winders officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home.
