Dinah Grace Loyd Anderson, 76, of Wilson, NC, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Friday morning, March 6, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Dinah was the daughter of the late William Henry Loyd and Elizabeth Earnest Loyd and was born on August 18, 1943, in the Southeast Texas coastal town of Corpus Christi which encouraged a great love and yearning for being near the sea. Dinah soon moved to Refugio, Texas, and she relished the small-town Texas lifestyle. Her father’s job took them to Houston, and Dinah attended Bellaire High School and graduated in 1961. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and then the University of Houston where she met her husband, Jack Anderson. The two were married and began a wonderful life together. They traveled the United States extensively and lived in numerous exciting cities across the country, but the relocation to Connecticut led Dinah to her faith in the Lord at Faith Baptist Church in the midst of the tobacco fields of the small town of Enfield. Dinah had numerous interests. Her grandchildren were her passion and she spent countless hours supporting them in all of their endeavors. She was an avid reader of all genres, which provided a depth of knowledge on multiple topics. Springtime was her favorite time of year. She loved her rose bushes and a house full of beautiful flowers. Dinah had an exciting career as an Administrative Assistant working for large corporations in downtown Houston, including working in Government Affairs on President George H.W. Bush’s Presidential campaign. After retiring, Dinah and Jack settled in Wilson, North Carolina to be closer to their grandchildren. Although Dinah adored her home state of Texas, she grew to love all aspects of North Carolina, particularly the quaint coastal towns and sandy beaches on the Inner and Outer Banks.
Dinah is survived by her husband of over fifty years, Jack C. Anderson, Jr., and only child Carol Anderson Abrams (Stanley); grandson Jonathan Abrams (Mattie); granddaughters, Caroline Abrams and Anna Grace Abrams; siblings, Delia Loyd Prince (James) and David Loyd (Kathy); sister-in-law, Deborah Whitfield; brother-in-law, David Anderson (Amey); and several cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13th at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St. N, Wilson, NC, and a Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Shakour of Tabernacle Baptist Church officiating.
