He was a born again Christian who loved the Lord and was a member of Porter Swamp Baptist Church at Cerro Gordo, NC.
William is preceded in death by his father the late Robert W. Everett, his daughter Trina (Tree) Juana Everett, 1981 – 2004, a sister Carol E. Dawson, a brother Robert (Bobby) L. Everett Sr., a nephew Robert L. Everett Jr., a sister-in-law Brenda Cole Everett.
William is survived by his loving wife Sandra Ward Everett of 47 years, his mother Pauline W. Everett, daughter Tami J. Everett all of the home, a son Scott Lee Horner of Orlando, FL, four grandchildren David, Brandon, Brianna Newberry and Kaley Ratliff all of Wilmington, NC, two great-grandsons Oliver and Emmitt Newberry. A sister Sue and her husband Larry Hines of Wilmington, NC, a brother-in-law Ed Dawson of Snow Hill, NC, a sister–in-law Gloria Swain Everett of Wilmington, NC. A very special Aunt Mae Brooks of Oakboro, NC, also many nieces, nephews and friends.
William worked in the Nuclear Power industry from 1978-2017. He loved playing golf. After retiring he enjoyed many projects renovating his home in Fair Bluff. He loved getting together with family and friends.
He served his country during the TET offensive in Vietnam in 1968.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Porter Swamp Baptist Church, 8975 Andrew Jackson Hwy SW, Cerro Gordo, NC 28430.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 12:00pm at Porter Swamp Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Moore officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 2:30pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Honorary pall bearers: The Ward first cousins and friends Cecil Eason, Lloyd Canady, Tim McGirt.
