Thomas Raeford Lovitt

Thomas Raeford Lovitt, age 64, of Wilmington, North Carolina went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2023 after a long battle with Lymphoma cancer ten years ago and Small cell Lung cancer six months ago.

He was born on April 22, 1958 in Jacksonville, NC to Tommy Ray Lovitt and Ester Duncan Lovitt, both deceased.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Ann Lovitt; sons: Neil Allan Lovitt (Belva) of Clinton, NC, Thomas Raeford Lovitt Jr (Brianna) of Wilmington, NC and Blake Bigham of Wilmington, NC, daughters: Jennifer Marie Lovitt (Austin) of Wilmington, NC and Blair Bigham of Maui, HI; brothers: Dale Alan Lovitt (Amanda) of Wilmington, NC, Kennneth Ray Lovitt (Lisa) of Wilmington, NC; sister Janet Louise Lovitt of Wilmington, NC; brother in law: Brian Matthew Charlesworth(Stephanie) of Wilmington; grandchildren: Anna, Trey, Ava, Lexi, Cali, Taylor, Lacey; nieces: Kimberly, Samantha, Emma, Bailey and nephews: Michael, Timothy and Austin Lovitt.

Raeford loved his family and friends. He was passionate about waking up in the morning and going to work. He loved his employees and enjoyed making them feel like family. Raeford was a lover of Sundays, the day of the Lord, Nascar and football. He was an ocean man and enjoyed fishing, boat rides and driving on the north end of Carolina Beach. He loved his country music, family traditions, traveling and working hard for a living. Raeford founded the Lovitt Wrecker business at a young age and with the help of his brothers they created a very successful car business here in Wilmington, NC. Raeford had been in business for over 40 years and was the former owner and operator of Lovitt Motor Company & L.O.S Financial Inc.

He was a positive fighter and kept a smile on this face until the end. He will be missed by many and loved forever.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
