Roscoe Pete Bass Jr.

Roscoe “Pete” Bass Jr., 80, of Leland, NC passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014. Pete was born on October 22, 1933 in Wilson County. After graduating Stantonsburg High School, he worked at DuPont for 32 years. He served in the US Army and the Reserves.

He is preceded in death by parents Roscoe and Johnnie Bass; sister, Rachel Cooke; brothers, Ben, Leroy and Robert Bass.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June Brantley Bass; son, Mike Bass and wife Debbie of Burgaw; daughter, Debbie Godbold and husband David of Wilmington; daughter, Pam Smith and husband Don of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Amy David, Michael Bass, Kevin and Wesley Godbold, and Cannon Smith; three great grandchildren, Tyson and Gia David and Brooklyn Bass.

A private burial will be held by the family on Saturday. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5709 Murrayville Road, Wilmington, NC 28405 followed by a “Going Home Celebration” Service at 7:00 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. A special appreciation to Melody, Kelli, Karen, Mildred, and Sandy of Brunswick County Hospice for all the special care he received.
