In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Powell; daughter, Jerrie Barger; daughter-in-law, Roberta Hopkins and brother, Marvin Jackson.
Rachel was very active in church events and missionary opportunities with the Baptist Association. She also worked as a school bus coordinator with the school system.
Rachel is survived by her daughters: Linda Biddle of the home and Jackie Eason and husband Andrew of Wilmington; sons: Thomas Willard and wife Debbie of Montgomery, NY, Johnny Hopkins and wife Kathy of Eden, NC and Joe Hopkins of Wilmington; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Friday, December 10th, 2021 at Pine Valley United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Reaves officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pine Valley United Methodist Church Mission Projects.
