In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew Martin Wood.
Marty is survived by his wife Phyllis Vaughan; daughters: Maggie Fleming and husband Ben and Katie Vaughan; granddaughters: Lily Kate Fleming and Emmie Fleming; sisters: Nancy Winston and husband Jack and Barbara Wood and husband Whitey; nieces: Donna Glisson, Laura Severage, Lisa Halstead and nephew Michael Winston.
Marty loved the Lord, his family, his friends and his country, where he proudly served in the USMC. He also loved music and was a founding member of the music ensemble, Faithful Men at CABC. He loved woodworking and working in his greenhouse. He was the first volunteer at the Wilmington Veteran’s Affair Clinic and served at Port City Community Church on the parking team. His goal was to make at least one person smile, everyday.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12pm on February 14, 2023 at Port City Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Port City Community Church & Convoy of Hope.
