Mariah Cooper Harrelson, 90, gained her heavenly wings on October 8th, 2022. She was surrounded by a houseful of loving family when Jesus came to take her to her heavenly home. Mariah was a true and faithful believer and knew she would be welcomed into the arms of her merciful Savior. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Mariah’s faith, character and strength was admired by everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm on October 14th at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC 28412. There will be a visitation with the family from 1-2pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Her body will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery.
She was born on April 7th, 1932, in Wilmington, NC and was the daughter of Lee and Lizzie Cooper. She grew up in Wilmington, attended New Hanover High School. She was a member College Acres Baptist Church.
She is survived by her Son,Jefferson (Mackie) Harrelson, daughter Sheri Hinson (Jeff), her son Gary Harrelson, Honorary Son Mike Myers, seven grandchildren: Brittany, Courtney, Lisa, Natalie, Kayla, Seth and Brandon, nine great-grandchildren Skye, Bryce, Mariah, Macy, Gracie, Parker, Ella, Owen, and Nicholas, Sister in law Alice, nieces and nephews Diane, Barbara, Franklin, Debbie, Bobby, Harris Jr, Lori, and a host of Great Nieces and Nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lee Franklin Cooper and Lizzie Carpenter Cooper, Husband Jefferson McIver Harrelson, son Roger Harrelson, sister Maxine (Frank), brother Harris, and brother Lee (Doris), Grandson Jacob Harrelson, and Nephew Alan Cooper.
Mariah was a loving and devoted mother to her family and a highly regarded mother to many foster children over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Acres Baptist Church.
