Jerry Dowless

Jerry Anderson Dowless, Sr. 82, of Riegelwood, NC died November 3, 2017, in the hope of resurrection and eternal life. He was born in Columbus County, NC on April 17, 1935 to Samuel and Gladys Dowless, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Dowless worked for forty-three years in Bolton, NC at the woodlands operations of first Riegel, then Federal, and finally International Paper. In addition, Mr. Dowless in 1960 bought and began clearing a parcel of land on Highway 87 near East Arcadia, NC. This land became his home and farm, the heart of Dowless Farming Co., which today does business as Dowless Peach Orchard.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lynda Dowless; son Jerry Anderson Dowless, Jr.; two brothers: James Dowless and wife Annie-Lou of Bolton, NC and Joe Dowless and wife Marjorie of Rockingham, NC, and their families.

A Funeral Service will be held 3PM on Monday November 6, 2017 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, at 4658 Old Lake Road in Bolton, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 3PM. Interment will take place at Carver’s Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, at 16904 Highway 87 in Council, NC.
