Jeanne Horn Horn Grainger

Jean “Jeanne” Marie Horn Grainger of Sneads Ferry, NC was born to David E. Horn and Betty J. Rodman Horn on August 30, 1947 in Marion, IN. She went home to be with her Lord Sunday, February 19, 2012 after a sudden illness, with her family by her side.

Jeanne graduated from Madison Grant High School in Fairmount, IN in 1965. She served her country by joining the United States Army in November 1965. She completed basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama in 1966. She served one year in Vietnam as a Medical Specialist.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Ray Grainger, Sr.; six children and their families, James Randall Bowman, Jr. of Chesterfield, VA, his wife, Elizabeth, and daughters, Bethany and Emily; Jeanne Michelle Bowman Croom of Rocky Point, NC, her husband, Barry, and children, Brandon, Stephanie, and Joshua; Dennis Ray Grainger, Jr. of Leland, NC and his sons, Trace and Damian; Woodroe Wayne Bowman of Wilmington, his wife, Terra, and children, Cheyenne, Emma, Isabell and Anthony; Brandi Sarah Bowman of Raleigh, her significant other, Paul and children, Riane-Lee and Cory; Kristina Marie Grainger Arrington of Sneads Ferry, her husband, Chris, and daughters, Kendall and Daisy, and a new blessing to join the family later this year; two brothers, Michael “Mickey” D. Horn of China Grove, NC and his wife, Debbie; and Samuel Ray Horn of Lincoln, IL.

Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to offset funeral expenses or the charity of choice.
